Artist's Statement

I am a London based artist living in Hackney. I studied painting at Saint Martins School of Art in the 80‘s. In 2009 I completed a postgraduate course in Architectural Glass at Central Saint Martins. I design and make stained glass panels for architectural interiors and individual installations, using a variety of techniques; painting, sandblasting, fusing, appliqué and slumping.

I am happy to work to commission, using glass and other materials. I like to visit and research the site, then proceed with some drawing and eventually a finished design taking into account the clients taste and preferences.

I like combining pattern and texture with abstracted image making. I’m interested in rich textures and organic forms. I love the wealth of depth and detail that can be achieved by sand blasting and painting on glass. I’m attracted by the luminosity of glass, how it shimmers and changes in different light conditions, the way it casts its coloured shadows, glowing into a room, extending beyond its own boundaries.
